With the strength of a Lioness

“To each one of us the duty of transforming our wounds into insertion points for the wings” – J.W.N. Sullivan

Forced to stay at home, to rethink our daily activities, to restructure our working modalities, fun and relax time. Unable to go out, the life suggests us another direction, closer and more intimate with ourselves. And right in the moment when restrictions confine us in isolation and social distancing, the spread of the virus unifies us globally in the emotional and spiritual dimension.

The world has stopped. And it has forced many of us to stop with it. A chain has broken and we have the chance to decide how to go further.

I am not talking about doctors, nurses, food shop’s employees, …and all the ones that are in the front line to support us in this difficult moment or about those who got ill or have relatives and friends in the hospitals, who are living for sure a very different experience.

But many of us, for the first time, are in a moment of stillness; we do not know what will happen in the immediate future, what tomorrow will bring, nothing works as before. Many of us, for the first time, have time, the time we often claim we do not have. Can we now complain that we have too much time? Of course not, as complaining about one thing and its opposite would put us in front of a wall.

We have tried sometimes to stop. But everyone is running, and we have to run as well, we think. Now many are still, we breathe a sigh of relief and this situation becomes a gift for reflection.

We have time and all we can consider essential and important. We are in charge of the rhythm of our days and we have the chance to look for that inner clarity, cleaned from too many inputs, which we often drowned into, that can unfold, when the time will come, in an effective action that flows naturally because aligned to our feeling.

In this time of silence, in the lack of defined plans, in front of an open horizon of surprise and infinite potentiality, is enclosed a powerful bud of love and force of creation. We can give space to our authentic intention and move in the right direction.

We live in a new land where worry and excitement mix in a continuous change of shades and a little change of perspective is enough to transform a problem into opportunity, a pause into a new creation or vice versa.

It’s time to live into our hearth and rest the mind, it’s time to understand what means taking care of ourselves, of others and of the planet that hosts us, it’s time to slow down and allow that a new part of ourselves – the one that often we use to avoid – is appreciated and listed, it’s time to train our awareness, to live our life with intention, to be fully present in our actions, to nurture a more evolved state of consciousness, to take the reins of our wellbeing. It is time to fix what’s wrong, to put things back in their place.

In 1849 the citizens of Brescia, the city where I live, rose against the Austrian domination. For 10 days, from March the 23rd to April the 1st, Brescia fought and resisted, gaining the name of Lioness of Italy. Strength and pride in a difficult and dramatic moment. Let’s make it happen again and that – with our inner strength and the pride of our intentions – in this spring the best of us will blossom.
