The commitment to Well-Being

The soft light of the candles, the background music and the scent of the essential oils: laying down on the massage bed, I am ready to receive my treatment and I abandon myself to the relaxation and pleasantness of the hour ahead of me, knowing that I could get asleep along the way.

This is the image that till little time ago was mostly associated to the concept of wellbeing.

Wellness, spa, wellbeing, holistic health… whatever name we use to describe its several shades, it is a concept in deep evolution, that is fundamentally changing its essence, marking the beginning of a new era of wellbeing.

We are more aware that wellbeing is our responsibility, and with this awareness the role of the user is transforming, moving from a basically passive approach to a much more active one.

The wellbeing offerings of hotels, spas or holistic centres in general are not anymore limited to facials, body treatments or fitness activities but range over many complementary fields.

Within the inclusions of a wellbeing program we find healthy nutrition workshops, music therapy and dance, creative activities like painting or manual arts, reconnection with nature, sessions of somatic coaching and several other personal evolution practices.

The wellbeing is a journey of discovery, about ourselves and about the tools and experiences helping us to progress on the route of our personal growth.

It is a journey of learning and training, and thus it requires a constant commitment to hold the course and advance.

Joining a wellbeing program becomes thus a decision that entails active engagement, that requires to get involved, that implies to face up blocks, fears and frustrations, opening sometimes Pandora’s boxes that will lead us to the conquest of important evolution successes but not without asking in the near time effort, strain and sometimes, yes, also painful moments.

So, a massage, a treatment, a sauna or a steam bath … become parts of a much wider and diverse scenario of wellbeing programs, where the fulcrum of success moves more and more from the therapist – whose guide’s role remains undoubted – to the final user.

The physical benefit of a massage on our body, as well as its capability in facilitating emotional release is undeniable and the precious help that a treatment can play in our relaxation is so valuable, but all these practices are parts of a more complicated puzzle, where the commitment and the motivation of the final user are the key elements to reach the final goal.
