Free the time

From 13 to 14 lunch with my friend I have not been seeing for weeks, from 19 to 20 yoga lesson and at 21 the course about the Traditional Chinese Medicine I was so interested about and I managed to add to all other engagements. Yes, engagements, this is the way I often feel and live experiences in the free time.

Time allocated to relax and development of body and mind, time dedicated to fun and rest but also to personal growth and satisfaction of interests.

A time that has few traces of freedom, more and more squeezed among work hours, errands and family life, sometimes, this one as well, lived as an engagement itself.

A time that, being free, should be released from schemes, flexible to adapt to our emotional state, able to comply with our body tiredness to better express its regenerative function.

How often we hear ourselves saying “today I can’t, I have to attend yoga”? Our mind might amend the inappropriate use of this verb, but in vain as our unconscious mind has sent its message already.

The number of activates we want to include in one day forces to plan very carefully our agenda, nurturing the increasing inability to dismantling and live the present moment.

“Follow the flow”: something apparently very easy, asking to listen, observe and follow the lead of what emerges, is often so difficult to realize. Even when we are speaking about our so-called free time, not to mention when we want to apply it to more complex aspects of the daily life.

Our path meets the lessons supporting our personal growth.

Learning to let go of the concept of commitment and duty to recover a healthier and lighter sense of play and fun? Getting out of the rigidity of the sacrifice-performance scheme to open-up to the understanding that living well leads us to be more efficient and productive?

Overcoming those feelings of guilt arising when we fail to apply the overtones which we have been educated with? Switch from control to acceptance?

Lessons that are learned over a lifetime, in our free time we can start practicing.

And perhaps we will find ourselves doing several activities as before, now gifting us a completely new energy and lightness.
